This timeline shows the results of a survey in Germany on the interest in sports broadcasts and sports programs on television from 2019 to 2023. In 2023, there were around 17 million persons in the German-speaking population aged fourteen and older who very much enjoyed watching sports broadcasts (live) or sports programs such as ZDF Sportstudio or Sportschau on television.
The Allensbach Market and Advertising Media Analysis (Allensbacher Markt- und Werbeträgeranalyse or AWA in German) determines attitudes, consumer habits and media usage of the population in Germany on a broad statistical basis.

The question in the survey was phrased as follows: "Here are different types of television programs. Please check the relevant box to indicate whether you very much enjoy watching programs such as these, enjoy watching programs such as these, don't enjoy watching programmes such as these very much or if you don't enjoy watching programmes such as these at all: sports broadcasts (live) or sports programes such as ZDF Sportstudio, Sportschau." (Original question in German: „Hier stehen verschiedene Arten von Fernsehsendungen.
