This statistic displays the number of event cinema visitors in the Netherlands from 2012 to 2017. Event cinema stands for cinemas who display alternative content, besides newly released movies. This content includes, for example, live as well as pre-recorded concerts, theater performances, sport matches, eSports tournaments and episodes from TV shows. Between 2012 and 2017, the number of event cinema visitors increased year on year in the Netherlands. Whereas in 2012, roughly 55,000 people visited event cinema events, by 2017 this had more than tripled, to approximately 167,000 people.
