As of June 2023, Singapore produced about 94.3 percent of its electricity from natural gas. Natural gas is the cleanest form of fossil fuel and is therefore used to lower the emissions through power generation in Singapore.

Unsurprisingly, this resulted in a rise in natural gas consumption, reaching about 13.4 billion cubic meters in 2021. Due to a lack of land, renewable power sources are limited. Currently, Singapore is trying to expand its solar power generation. As of 2022, Singapore’s solar energy capacity reached about 821.7 megawatts.
