This statistic shows the most affordable metro areas in the United States in 2018, by share of income spent on rent. In 2018, St. Louis, Montana was the second most affordable metro area because 21.5 percent of the median household income was spent on the median rent. For comparison, this is lower than the 27.7 percent renters spent on average on rent in the United States in 2018.
