State of Mexico was the federal entity with the highest number of femicides in the homonymous country in 2023. In that year, at least 89 women were murdered in the state of Mexico on account of their gender. In Nuevo Leon, 73 femicide victims were registered. These two Mexican states accounted for around 20 percent of all femicides committed in Mexico that year.
