From 2013 to 2019, the export income generated from international students studying in Australia rose steadily each year, peaking at 37.6 billion Australian dollars in 2019. Due to COVID-19 lockdowns and entry restrictions, international student revenue plummeted in 2021 and 2022, reaching just 20.8 billion dollars in 2022. In 2023, the export income from international students studying in Australia recovered to around 36 billion Australian dollars.
