The survey results suggest that as of 2018, a sizable share of people in the Netherlands were in favor of keeping the Sinterklaas tradition as it is. 45 percent of people surveyed agreed that the Sinterklaas tradition with Black Pete should remain as it is, while just under ten percent of respondents completely disagreed. Opinion did shift compared to 2016, though. That year, more respondents felt that nothing should change in the Sinterklaas tradition.
