This statistic shows the results of a survey about the preferred occasions to buy sekt, prosecco, and champagne in Germany in 2017. According to data, about 28 percent of respondents bought champagne and sekt only on special occasions such as Christmas and New Year's Eve. Birthdays and parties were also popular occasions to buy sparkling wine: about one in five respondents declared to buy sekt and champagne to celebrate birthdays. Finally, a considerable share of respondents (18 percent in the case of prosecco and 17 percent in the case of sekt) would sometimes buy them outside of special occasions.
