This statistic presents the number of women licensed in each 'Big Five' country of European football (Germany, Spain, Italy, England and France) during the 2016-2017 season. Germany easily took the lead with more than 770,000 registered female soccer players and was followed by the United Kingdom with 147,000 licensed female footballers. In France in 2015, there were 121,520 sports licenses issued to women playing soccer.
