Some 1.3 million battery electric vehicles were sold in Europe in 2021, according to data provided by EV-Volumes. This an increase of 65 percent compared to battery electric vehicle sales in the region in 2020. Overall, the volume of battery electric vehicles sold worldwide has been steadily increasing between 2016 and 2021.
