In 2021, the provinces of British Columbia was by far the leading region regarding Canadian coal production. British Columbia accounted for 62 percent of the total Canadian coal production that year. Alberta, the second-largest coal mining province in Canada accounted for 21 percent of Canadian coal production in 2021.
