This statistic displays the number of road sections that have been included in the Spanish road safety index in 2019, broken down by level of risk. As can bee seen in the graph, 593 road sections in Spain were classified as low-risk in 2020. In contrast, 50 road sections were classified as high-risk.

The risk index is defined as the number of fatal and serious accidents that occurred in a determined section for each 1,000 million vehicles per kilometer.
For the elaboration of the report, a total of 4,096 have been taken into account accidents that occurred in the Highway Network between 2012 and 2016, which were assigned to 1,389 sections of roads with a length of more than 24,899 kilometers.
