In 2021, Brazil accounted for 45.5 percent of all new HIV cases reported in Latin America, while approximately 16.4 percent of the new HIV cases corresponded to Mexico. Colombia followed, with around 7.8 percent of new HIV diagnoses detected in the region. That same year, the HIV prevalence in the adult population in Brazil amounted to 0.6 percent.
