New HIV cases in Latin America 2020, by population group

In 2020, gay men and other men who had sex with other men accounted for 46 percent of the new HIV cases in Latin America. Clients of sex workers and other sexual partners of key populations accounted for 24 percent of the cases. Individuals that did not report any HIV-related risk behavior accounted for eight percent of new cases.
