As of 2018, the average that needs to be paid for a new petrol or diesel motor vehicle was approximately 4,800 euros, an increase compared to the previous years. Petrol cars saw a tax growth of 56.4 percent in the given time period, whereas diesel cars had a growth of 82.7 percent.
