Wholesale prices of cashews by country worldwide 2024

In the marketing year of 2024, the wholesale price per kilogram for cashew nuts in India was about nine U.S. dollars. The average price in Australia was almost 14 U.S. dollars per kilogram that year. 

Tree nut production

Tree nuts, which include walnuts, hazelnuts, cashews, among other varieties, are produced in high quantities each year. During the marketing year of 2018/2019, an estimated four and a half million metric tons of tree nuts were produced. Tree nut production has experienced an upward trend in the past ten years. Out of all the different types of tree nuts produced in 2019/2020, almonds were cultivated the most. That marketing year, almost one and a half million metric tons’ worth of almonds were produced.

Tree nut consumption in the U.S.

Per capita consumption of shelled tree nuts in the United States has increased considerably over the last few years: U.S. consumers ate approximately five pounds of tree nuts in 2018. A spike could be seen in 2016, when consumption of tree nuts grew by almost a pound compared to the previous year.
