Venezuela's reported gold holdings have remained stable at 161.22 metric tons since the first quarter of 2021. As of 2020, gold reserves held by Venezuela's Central Bank represent less than half the amount reported five years earlier, in the first quarter of 2015. Still, this country has the largest gold holdings in Latin America.

The source added the following information: "Data are taken from the International Monetary Fund's International Financial Statistics (IFS), March 2021 edition, and other sources where applicable. IFS data are two months in arrears, so holdings are as of January 2021 for most countries, December 2020 or earlier for late reporters. Where the World Gold Council knows of movements that are not reported to the IMF or misprints, changes have been made."
