Number of private investors in Belgium and the Netherlands 2018

This statistic shows the total number of households in Belgium and the Netherlands who invest in 2018 (in millions). In the Netherlands, investing (or in Dutch: beleggen) household savings is a normal thing to do. Banks or other asset managers (collectively called vermogensbeheerders in Dutch) offer products which makes it easy for households to participate in private or retail investing. Note that private banking or wealth management is a step above this, as these financial products target wealth individuals such as HNWIs (High-net-worth-individuals). The source states that the total number of households that participated in an investment in Belgium was around one million.
