Based on the definition of populism by the source, at the time of the survey 75 percent of respondents with populist views agreed with the statement about wishing less European integration in the future rather than more.

In this study populism is defined as a certain understanding of politics and democracy, its norms, institutions and procedures. A distinguishing feature is the idea of the “true people” on one side and the “corrupt elite” on the other. Additionally, views which are anti-establishment, anti-pluralism and pro sovereignty of the people. According to the authors of the study, all three views are supposed to be represented simultaneously to qualify as populist views. Further definitions are available in the report.
