Market share of leading factoring companies in Belgium 2015-2016

This statistic shows a ranking of the biggest factoring companies in Belgium in 2015 and 2016, based on their share in the factoring sector's total assets. Factoring is a transaction in which a business sells its accounts receivable (also known as invoices), to a third-party financial company (called a factor). The factor then collects payment on those invoices from the business’s customers. The main reason that companies choose to factor is that they want to receive cash quickly, so they can meet their immediate cash needs, rather than waiting the 30 to 60 days it often takes for customers to pay their bills.

In Belgium, a large portion of the total assets that are held by factoring companies are indirectly owned by the country's four largest credit institutions. In 2017, the total factoring volume in Belgium reached 69.6 billion euros.
