In 2020, the FONASA, Chile's public health coverage scheme, covered approximately 76.5 percent of the population. Meanwhile, about 15.4 percent of Chileans were covered by ISAPRE, a private health insurance provider. Overall, the health coverage rate in the South American country increased by 8.1 percentage points, from 86.4 percent in 1990 to 94.5 percent in 2020.

The figures are based on a survey among 185,437 people. Respondents were either a member of the household aged 18 years and older or the principal household member.
Fonasa stands for Fondo Nacional de Salud; it is a public institution.
Isapre stands for Instituciones de Salud Previsional; it is a private institution.
FF.AA. stands for armed forces; Chile has established a special insurance scheme for their armed forces.
