This statistic shows the results of a survey on the distribution of populism amongst voters and non-voters in Germany in 2020. In accordance with the definition provided by the study, almost 32 percent of non-voters were classified as populist.

In this study populism is defined as a certain understanding of politics and democracy, its norms, institutions and procedures. A distinguishing feature is the idea of the “true people” on one side and the “corrupt elite” on the other. Additionally, views which are anti-establishment, anti-pluralism and pro sovereignty of the people. According to the authors of the study, all three views are supposed to be represented simultaneously to qualify as populist views. Further definitions are available in the report.
