Number of stores in Poland 2008-2024
There were approximately 368,000 retail stores in the Polish market in 2024, a decrease of 0.4 percent compared to 2023.

Over the last few years, Poland has seen increases in the number of supermarkets/hypermarkets and discount stores. On the other hand, the number of small stores and drug stores declined. In 2023, there were already 10,000 supermarkets and 544 hypermarkets in Poland. Additionally, more and more shopping centers are being opened every year. At the beginning of 2023, there were more than 57 in Warsaw alone.
Favorite retail channels to do the shopping
With an extensive range of choices in-store types, Poles have their favorites in each area. Biedronka 24 percent of loyal customers who did not visit any competitor's store in the firs half of 2022. When it comes to buying clothes, Poles pointed out clothing chain stores and online shops with many brands as the place they do shopping most often. As for cosmetics purchase, in 2020, Poles were most likely to buy them at brick-and-mortar stores.
