Asus's share in the Taiwan smartphone market 2018-2024

In September 2024, the share of Asus in the Taiwanese smartphone market was 1.89 percent. The monthly share of Asus smartphones pervading the Taiwan market has been on the decline since having peaked in January 2018. Post a drastic drop towards the end of 2018, the technological giant’s share in Taiwan’s smartphone market has resurged to around 5.54 percent as of August 2020. 

Regional context

In terms of market share, Asus ranked sixth amongst the leading smartphone manufacturers within its home country, Taiwan, at the beginning of 2020. Its sales share as of June 2022 was at 1.3 percent which was a mere fraction of the sales of brands such as Apple, Samsung and even OPPO.

Asustek Computer Inc.

Established in Taipei in 1989, Asustek Computer Inc. was among the ten most valuable technology corporations and was worth 210 billion New Taiwan dollars as of December 2017. The company is world-renowned primarily for the production of personal computers and motherboards. Of the global revenue generated by the company in 2019, the largest share came from sales in Singapore, the United States, and China.
