This statistic presents the results of a survey on perceived leading causes of death through interpersonal violence in India as of 2018. According to data published by Ipsos, Indian respondents overestimated the number of violent deaths caused by sharp objects such as knives. Around 33 percent of respondents thought that most people killed through interpersonal violence died from sharp objects, when the actual share of these victims was around 25 percent of all violent deaths in the country.
