Health spending in Uruguay as share of GDP 2010-2021
In 2021, Uruguay's healthcare expenditure made up nine percent of its gross domestic product (GDP), up from eight percent recorded at the beginning of the decade. Within the given timespan, the figure remained relatively stable, ranging from an equivalent of eight to nine percent of the country's GDP. In comparison, that year Cuba's healthcare spending was equivalent to 14 percent of its GDP, the highest value reported among Latin American and Caribbean countries.
