This statistic illustrates the share of strategic drivers for mergers and acquisitions (M&As) in the United States in 2017 and 2018, according to corporations. It can be seen that the share of M&As that took place in order to acquire new technology fell from 20 percent in 2017 to 15 percent in 2018, whilst the share of M&As that took place to expand or diversify products or services increased from 16 percent in 2017 to 19 percent in 2018.
