In 2017, the type of surgery Italian citizens had to wait the longest for was cataract surgery. In fact, the average waiting time for this kind of surgery was as long as 15 months. Hip replacement surgeries followed with an average waiting time of 10 months. The general waiting period for a knee replacement surgery was of seven months.
