In 2019, the specialist medical care visits Italian citizens had to wait the most for were ophtalmologist ones. In fact, the average waiting time for such services was found to be 11 months. This statistic confronts average waiting times in 2019 with data from the year before, for different specialist medical care visits. For many of the services considered, the waiting period to see a specialist physician got shorter. For instance, the waiting time for a orthopedic visit went from an average of seven months in 2018 to five months in 2019.
