In 2023, most of the natural gas consumed in Italy was purchased in the free market, at over 39.6 billion cubic meters. The volume of gas bought from firms operating in the regulated market amounted to 3.2 billion cubic meters, a decrease of over 1.2 billion compared to the previous year.
