Share of journalists killed worldwide 2017-2018, by gender

In 2018, seven percent of journalists killed in 2018 were women, whereas 93 percent were men. Whilst female journalists are more likely to experience online harassment and threats, more male journalists work in warzones and report on sensitive topics such as crime and politics, placing them in greater and more immediate danger.
