Amazon forest in Brazil: deforested area by land 2023

In Brazil, more than half of the deforested area in the Amazon rainforest occurs in private land areas. In the first 10 months of 2023, this type of land consistently accounted for at least 60 percent of the deforested area reported. In contrast, in the same period, less than six percent of the Brazilian Amazon's deforestation took place in indigineous land.
