This statistic displays the results of a survey of British adults in 2018 which asked them if they thought wearing a white poppy, rather than a red one was acceptable, by age group. Although both red and white poppies are symbols of Remembrance Sunday in the United Kingdom, red poppies are seen to be more traditonal, while white poppies have a stronger association with pacifism. Of respondents, those aged between 18-24 were most likely to accept the white poppy as a symbol of rememberance with 42 percent agreeing that it was acceptable. By contrast, 56 percent of those aged 65 or over thought that wearing a white poppy was unacceptable.
Do you think that is it or is not acceptable to wear a white poppies (a symbol of pacifism) instead of the red poppy traditionally worn to symbolize Remembrance?*
