The number of chikungunya cases in Nicaragua showed a decreasing trend during the analyzed period. In 2015, the country reported nearly 56,000 chikungunya infections. Eight years later, only three cases of the disease were registered. Other countries in Latin America, such as Colombia, have also been successful in reducing the number of cases recently.
