Major mobile vendors Philippines 2024, by market share

Apple has surprisingly taken the lead among mobile phone vendors in the Philippines as of January 2024. What was once an Android-dominated market for several years has now been overcome by iPhone devices, holding 14.33 percent of the market. Oppo follows closely, with a market share of 14.06 percent.

 Apple's market takeover 

Apple iPhones took over the mobile phone market in the Philippines, after ranking behind the more affordable Android brands such as Oppo and Samsung. Whether iPhones will continue to lead the market is yet to be seen, as the average price for newly released units continues to soar. As of September 2023, data from Picodi revealed that it would take an average Filipino worker about 80 working days to afford the latest iPhone model, which is the lowest number of working days needed since 2018.

 Smartphone usage 

With an average time spent of about five hours per day as of the third quarter of 2023, Filipino online users dominated the world rankings in social media and internet usage. E-commerce adaptation caused this year’s growth in smartphone usage across the country, with an increasing number of Filipinos using their phones for online shopping and to pay for goods and services through various digital payment apps. The government also promoted the use of digital applications and online banking for cash assistance and salary payouts for its employees.
