The number of wells on the United Kingdom Continental Shelf (UKCS) declined over the years. Development wells fell from 130 in 2010 to 71 wells in 2017, rising to 84 development wells in 2018. Exploration wells dropped from 28 wells in 2010 to eight wells in 2018.
