The marketing expenses of leading online travel agencies (OTAs) worldwide grew significantly in 2023 compared to the previous year, exceeding the expenditures recorded before the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the period considered, Expedia Group and Booking Holdings reported the highest figures, spending roughly 6.9 billion and 6.8 billion U.S. dollars on marketing in 2023, respectively. While Airbnb recorded the third-highest figure that year, it spent substantially less than Expedia Group and Booking Holdings, with the company's marketing expenses reaching around 1.8 billion U.S. dollars.
