Google Assistant: number of supported smart home devices worldwide 2020

From January 2018 to September 2020, the number of devices supported by Google Assistant has risen from around 1,500 to 50,000, from 5,500 manufacturers. Google offers its own smart automation brand, Google Nest, though Google Assistant supports a wide variety of other smart home devices.

What is Google Assistant?

One of the leading smart assistants, Google Assistant is the second-most widely implemented next to Amazon's Alexa. Much like other intelligent personal assistants, Google Assistant is most often used to check the weather and news, as well as answer questions or control music. This versatile virtual assistant had the best performance in almost every category of queries posed to it.

Mass adoption of smart home products?

The share of smart home devices shipment worldwide is forecast to be dominated by the video entertainment category and grow to 1.4 billion shipments by 2024. In line with this, the number of digital voice assistants in use is predicted to increase to eight billion in the same period.
