This statistic displays the findings of a survey on experiences of any negative types of online activity among internet users in the United Kingdom (UK) between 2013 and 2015. In 2013, 43 percent of respondents reported receiving spam or unwanted emails from companies trying to sell things. By 2015 this number had risen to 53 percent of responding internet users. In all three years it was by far the most common negative internet experience. Phishing was the second most common negative experience. Identity theft and the stealing of credit card information remained rare over the period covered.
