U.S. pumpkin prices during Halloween 2017-2023

In the United States, the average price of pumpkins during Halloween had dropped slightly, from about 5.4 U.S. dollars per pumpkin in 2022 to 5.24 dollars in 2023.

Halloween is a very popular holiday in the United States and carving pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns is a tradition in many families. As the price for individual pumpkins decreased in 2023, plans to carve pumpkins for Halloween increased. In 2023, over 154 million people in the U.S. planned to carve a pumpkin, increasing from about 149 million the previous year.

U.S. pumpkin production

In 2022, the United States produced about 16.5 million centum weight (cwt) of pumpkins, about 25 percent more than was produced in 2020. Along with the increase in production, the per capita consumption of pumpkins also increased to five and a half pounds of fresh pumpkin per capita.
