In 2020, many e-commerce companies in selected European countries had unnecessary issues, which disrupt the webpage's checkout flow and cause consumers to abandon their order. For example, nearly half of the e-commerce shops reviewed in these countries did not confirm the type of card used when a card number was entered, missing the opportunity to validate payment details in real-time. About one in five e-commerce websites did not allow card numbers to be entered without spaces, annoyingly forcing customers to enter the digits in a certain way.
