In 2022, the R&D expenditure of the ICT sector in Hong Kong amounted to around 6.27 billion Hong Kong dollars, which accounted for almost 50 percent of the total research and development expenditure in the city. The ICT sector's expenditure was significant in relation to its share of the city's total GDP.
