Number of transactions of the OV-chipkaart in the Netherlands 2015-2018
The OV-chipkaart is a contactless smart card used to travel by public transport and maintained by TransLink, a company created by the five biggest public transport companies in the Netherlands: Connexxion, GVB, RET, NS and HTM. As of 2018, there were approximately 2.72 billion transactions made with the OV-chipkaart, an increase of 160 million transactions compared to the previous year.
