The statistic displays the results of a survey of opinions on public displays of affection in the Netherlands in 2018, by sexual orientation of the couple. Survey participants were asked whether they found the sight of a couple kissing objectionable. The results indicate that opinions regarding public displays of affection differed significantly depending on the type of couple considered. Approximately 20 percent of respondents indicated that they considered public displays of affection by heterosexual couples objectionable. This figure increased with regard to lesbian couples and was highest with regard to gay men; with over 35 percent of respondents indicating that they considered two men kissing to be indecent.
