In fiscal year 2022, the gross traffic receipt value of Indian Railways amounted to approximately 1.9 trillion Indian rupees. A linear rise in the traffic receipts value was seen over the years from financial year 2014 until 2019. The decrease afterwards was partially due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
