This statistic shows the distribution of male and female main characters and prominent figures (show hosts, news presenters etc.) on television in Germany in 2016 and in cinema productions between 2011 and 2016. During the period under consideration, the share of female protagonists was higher on cinema screens than on television, at 42 percent compared to 33 percent.
