Gender distribution of protagonists and personalities on TV in Germany 2016, by genre
This statistic shows the distribution of male and female main characters and prominent figures (show hosts, news presenters etc.) on television in Germany in 2016, broken down by genre. That year, share of female main characters on children's TV was under 30 percent. Only soaps and telenovelas had a close to equal share of male and female characters, at 52 percent female and 48 percent male.
