GDP of Curaçao 2008-2020

Between 2008 and 2018, Curaçao’s Gross Domestic Product increased from nearly 5.1 billion ANG to 5.5 billion ANG (or roughly 3.1 billion U.S. dollars), before decreasing to less than 4.5 billion ANG in 2020. GDP was highest in 2014, at over 5.6 billion ANG. After 2014, Curaçao’s GDP fell annually and as a consequence, Curaçao’s real GDP growth was negative nearly every year between 2014 and 2020, and stood at -18.4 percet in the most recent period.

Aruba 

Curaçao is one of the four constituent countries in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Two more Caribbean islands, Aruba and Sint Maarten, are also independent countries within this larger entity. But in contrast to Curaçao, real GDP growth in Aruba was mostly positive until 2018. In 2020, Aruba’s GDP amounted to roughly 4.5 billion Aruban florins (approximately 2.5 billion U.S. dollars).

 Sint Maarten 

Sint Maarten’s economic performance was much more mixed. The country’s GDP saw a modest growth annually in the last couple of years before 2016. That year, Sint Maarten’s GDP was valued at just over 1.9 billion ANG. After 2016 however, the island’s GDP fell considerably. In 2017 and 2018, real GDP growth was negative, as much as -8.1 percent in the most recent year.
