Electricity represented more than 30 percent of secondary energy production in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2017. Gasoline and alcohol, in turn, accounted for almost one fifth of the region's secondary energy production. That year, Latin America's secondary energy production added up to nearly 3.3 billion barrels of oil equivalent.
