As of 2018, more than 90 percent of the market of mobile phone providers in Belgium was taken by Proximus, Telenet and Orange. Proximus held approximately 40 percent of the mobile providers market in Belgium, whereas Telenet and Orange reached a market share of 27.2 and 25.7 percent, respectively. Examining the number of active SIM cards in Belgium, most of the SIM cards in Belgium were prepaid MNO (Mobile Network Operator). Roughly 4.2 million Belgians had a prepaid MNO SIM card, whereas over 3.8 million was postpaid MNO.

The total mobile data usage in Belgium increased steadily in the period of 2012 to 2017. In 2012 the data used amounted to roughly 3,900 terabytes, whereas by 2017 this increased to a total of 127,839 terabytes. The MNO data used (e.g. Vodafone, Verizon, Telekom) reached 127,839 terabytes, whereas MVNOs (e.g. Lebara Mobile, Lyca Mobile) had a data usage of 10,928 terabytes.

Roaming increased annually in Belgium in the period of 2013 to 2017. In 2013, a total of 350 million roaming minutes were registered, whereas by 2017 this increased to 925 million minutes.
